Haliotis sorenseni Bartsch, 1940
Distribution: SW. California to NW. Baja California.
Size up to 227mm. 20-60m deep, most of specimens living at 40-60m deep, on large rocks.

This is a light shell, rounded and inflated, with raised holes. Sculpture of fine spiral threads.
Spire rarely visible in ventral view. Color red to pink.
Baja California, 168mm. From coll. Ernest Zurrer (NZ).
SW. California, 154mm. The closed holes look like little volcanoes.
Due to the silvery nacre, the species is named the White Abalone.
