Distribution: Australia. Victoria to SW. West Australia.
Size to 217mm. 10 to 30m deep, on rocky shores, adjacent to sand (Shepherd, 1973).

Above and below: 15-25m deep, on smooth granite rocks among kelp, Mondraine Island.
Esperance, W. Australia. 180mm.
Color varies from yellow, light brown, to brick red, to green,
with often a prosocline pattern.
8m deep, Foul Bay, South Australia. 111mm. From coll. Ernest Zurrer (NZ).
The species can hybridize with Haliotis rubra and H. rubra conicopora.
5-20m deep, Port Lincoln, South Australia.
