Nucula nitidosa Winckworth, 1930
Norwegian Sea to Angola, Mediterranean.
Subtidal to continental shelf, in soft bottoms with some traces of mud, from a few millimetres to a few centimetres deep beneath the sediment. The species « is a selective deposit feeder that feeds on a variety of microzooplankton, organic and inorganic matter, and microbes including bacteria and fungi. » (MarLIN). It is also, but much more rarely, a suspension feeder.
