Filter feeder, locally abundant on shallow water rocks.
 
Dautzenberg (Moll. marins du Roussillon) gives the following differences with minimus: test pale, sturdier, with a shorter shape, under a fawn-coloured periostracum. – Ghjunchitu bay, Isola Rossa, NW. Corsica. Sizes circa 8mm.
The genus was « created in 1884 by M. de Monterosato for a group of small Mytilus, provided along the internal dorsal margins with a series of little serrations. » (Dautzenberg).
