Limopsis friedbergi
Glibert & van de Poel, 1965
Central Mediterranean (Pleistocene, if however pygmaea Philippi is a true synonym) to Canarias (extant), Madeira…
On the continental shelf edge and the upper slope.
Original taxon: Limopsis anomala friedbergi.
200m deep, in the Strait of Gibraltar. 2,5mm.
The main conchological differences with the other small species of Limopsis in the Mediterranean are: 1- the valves are more globose; 2- the inner margin is regularly crenulated. The shell of friedbergi differs from that of tenuis Seguenza by a more rounded shape; from that of angusta Jeffreys by a smaller size, a weaker sculpture and thinner walls.
