Lajonkairia substriata (Montagu, 1808)
British Isles (rare) to Mediterranean.
Original taxon: Venus substriata.

The shell is smaller than that of lajonkairii, with a decussate sculpture that can remain visible in adults, while it is often eroded in lajonkairii. But there may be some confusion in the distinction between the two species. – Above: a specimen from 5m deep, Bozcaada island, Çanakkale, W. Marmara province, NW. Turkey, North Aegean. 12,4mm.
« Testa subquadrata, parva, sinuata, alba, striis tenuissimis concentricis et costellis minutis aequalibus decussata; latere antico brevissimo, umbonibus subterminalibus; margine dorsali recto, ascendente; latere postico truncato. » – G. P.
