An amphiatlantic species. Arctic to West Indies and Gulf of Mexico, to Liberia and offshore islands, Azores to Mediterranean. Continental shelf and slope.
Predator on mobile preys.

The shell of this species is much smaller than in cuspidata; its valves are less domed, and the rostrum is longer. 70m deep, in muddy sand, Bozcaada island, Çanakkale province, W. Marmara, NW. Turkey. 8,7mm.
Beaks orthogyre; prodissoconches very tightly spaced.
