Cardiomya costellata (Deshayes, 1835)
Norway to Gabon, Azores to Mediterranean, Gulf of Mexico to E. Venezuela. American specimens could be affiliated to the taxon C. striata (Jeffreys, 1876), or striata could be a junior synonym of costellata. Mid shelf to upper slope.
Original taxon: Corbula costellata.
400m deep, 12 miles off Isla de Alborán, Alborán Sea. 4,5-5mm.
Synonyms: corpulenta, gemma, radiata, rostrato-costellata, striolata, sulcata… Above, a “striolata” from 80-150m deep, Málaga, Andalucia, S. Spain. 6,1mm.

Left valves dredged at 80m deep, hvarski kanal, Split-Dalmatia Comitat, S. Croatia. 3,3-3,4mm. The hinge bears a single cardinal tubercle.
