Sepia orbignyana

Irish Sea to southern Angola, Mediterranean. Predator on mobile preys, above sandy or sandy-muddy bottoms, from the infralittoral down to circa 250m deep; maximum depth registered: 570m (Jereb & Roper, 2005). The sepion is smaller (up to 10cm) and much more slender than that of officinalis.

Synonym: enoplon Rochebrune, 1884.
Presence of an acuminate and very conspicuous rostrum.
The males are smaller than the females.
