Trivia monacha (da Costa, 1778)
British Isles to Morocco, Azores to western Mediterranean.
 
Predator on sessile preys, mostly Ascidians like Diplosoma listerianum (Milne-Edwards, 1841), in the infralittoral down to circa 100m deep. Three dark spots on the dorsum, the central one often divided in two parts. Original taxon: Cypraea monacha. –3m deep, Isola Rossa, NW. Corsica. 10-13mm.
Synonyms: acuminata, occinella, europaea
Rochelongue, Cap d’Agde, Hérault, S. France. 9mm.
Specimens from English Channel.
Collected in crevices on rocks at extreme low tide, zone of red algae (Sphaerococcus coronopifolius Stackhouse), Petit Bey islet, Saint-Malo, N. Brittany, NW. France. 10-10,5mm.
