Azores to Canarias, to Mediterranean.
Predator on sessile preys in the infralittoral.
Original taxon: Cypraea mediterranea.
 
« On the side of the aperture, this shell is covered with smooth and protruding transverse cords that extend on the opposite side, gradually fading to the middle of the dorsum, which is smooth and sometimes provided with a longitudinal groove. […] Colouring: a livid brown background on which the transverse ribs barely stand out more clearly. Synonyms: pulex, lathyrus, pullicina.
This is the smoothest of all European Triviidae.
Washed ashore, Falasarna bay, Kissamos, W. Crete. 7,5mm.
Specimen from Stagnali Bay, Isola Caprera, La Maddalena archipelago, Olbia-Tempio, N. Sardinia. 7mm.
Dark red specimen from sediments around rocks, 6m deep, Vignola Bay, Marina di Davia, Corbara, NW. Corsica. 5,3mm.
Possible juvenile, from the same spot. 4mm.
