Western Mediterranean.
Scavenger in shallow water and on intertidal grounds.
Original taxon: Amycla corniculum var. “elongata”.

The species has been redescribed, after samples collected in the lagoon of Bizerte, by Aissaoui, Gallindo, Puillandre & Bouchet in “The nassariids from the Gulf of Gabès revisited”, Marine Biology Research vol. 13 (4), 2017, p.385-386.

« Protoconch paucispiral, of 1.5 whorls; teleoconch of 5 slightly convex whorls, suture shallow, weakly ledged; weak axial ribs on first 2 whorls, subsequent whorls smooth; no spiral sculpture except 3–4 spiral grooves at base of shell. Aperture ovate, outer lip weakly thickened and expanded, not forming a varix, bearing 9–10 rather strong teeth inside; columella convex, smooth, plicate; columellar callus smooth, marginated and narrow, bearing one indistinct anterior pustule and a weakly developed parietal denticle. Siphonal canal short, wide. Siphonal fasciole short and rounded. Background colour violet–grey with a light band on periphery of last whorl, and 12–15 spiral lines of alternating brown and white spots, […] suture bordered abapically by spirally elongated white blotches. Aperture violet–grey inside, with light band of periphery showing through, apertural rim lighter. »
