British Isles to W. Africa, to Mediterranean & Black Sea. Ectoparasit. Muddy bottoms in infralittoral-circalittoral area.
Original taxon: Odostomia fenestrata.
Synonyms: rigacci, weinkauffi.

« Testa conico-cylindracea, solidula, sordide albescens; anfractus 8, complanati, turriti et sensim descredentes, longitudinaliter notati 16 obliquis costellis qui 3 majoribus et 1 minore costellis transversim decussati sunt, duobus superioribus caeteros anfractus subtus circumornantibus, basi testae glabro; apex prominulus; sutura profunda; apertura ovalis, 1/4 testae subaequans, subtus parum effusa aut subcanaliculata; peristoma aliquantulum incrassatum ad columellam; umbilicus nullus. » – J. G. Jeffreys: “On the recent species of Odostomia, a genus of gasteropodous mollusks inhabiting the seas of Great Britain and Ireland”, Annals and Magazine of Natural History ser.2-v.2, p. 345.
