The Mouret in M. Adanson:
Histoire naturelle du Sénégal plate II.

« Adanson describes and draws, under this name, a kind of mollusc that he classifies among the Lepas (Patella, Linn.), even though he makes the observation that he does not know one species of Lepas with a shape further from its congeners. […] Shell patelloid, elliptical, with a well marked summit, asymetrical, somewhat left-sided and posteriorly placed; a kind of canal or groove on the right side, dividing the horseshoe-shaped muscular print of the cavity into two inequal parts. We consider as type of this genus the Mouret of Adanson, Mouretus Adansonii (loc. cit.), which is very common on the rocks of Gorée island in Sénégal. Regarding the other species, see at Siphonaria. » – H. M. D. de Blainville: “Mollusques, Vers et Zoophytes”, Dictionnaire des sciences naturelles vol. XXXIII, Paris 1824, p.161-162.
