Original taxon: Triphora similior.

Animal black. Basal cords smooth. No additional cords before the peristome. 40m deep, off Le Scole, south of the harbour, Isola del Giglio, Toscana, W. Italy. 4,75mm. On this specimen, the cord 2 appears near the 9th whorl (here, the penultimate).
Protoconch: embryonal shell finely pustulose apically. Larval shell: whorl 1 unicarinate, whorl 2-3 bicarinate, whorl 4 merging into the teleoconch. Transition: the adapical keel of the protoconch merges into the adapical cord (dot 1) of the teleoconch; and the abapical keel merges into the third teleoconch cord (dot 3).
Teleoconch: colour of a uniform dark brown. Cord 4 slightly granulose, and not smooth as in Marshallora adversa. This cord, sunken in the suture, is only visible on the last whorl. No additional cords before the peristome, which is flared. Basal cords smooth. This is an adult specimen.
