Setia slikorum (Verduin, 1984)
Galicia to W. Mediterranean, Sicilia.
Grazer and detritus feeder in the infralittoral.
Original taxon: Cingula sliki.
The aperture is slightly more rounded than in Setia ambigua.

The species is named « In honour of Mrs. and Mr. L. van der Slik, Rotterdam, in whose company I spent many pleasant malacological hours. » (A. Verduin: “On the taxonomy of some recent European marine species of the genus Cingula”, Basteria 48, 1984, p.47). The epithet slikorum is a justified emendation of the singular sliki.

« Fresh shells washed ashore are transparent and colourless […].The top whorls are of the same transparency and colour as the lower whorls. The body whorl is decorated with three spiral rows of brownish spots. The spots of the upper row are much higher than wide. Those of the lower rows may be somewhat obscure. No sculpture can be seen on the lower whorls. There is no labial rib, nor does the aperture show any other peculiarities. There is a very narrow umbilicus, almost an umbilical chink. »Ibid.

Shallow grit, Anse Bernardi, Port-Vendres, Eastern Pyrenees, Occitania, S. France. 1,5mm.
