Raphitoma cordieri (Payraudeau, 1826)
Mediterranean. Predator in the infralittoral.
Original taxon: Clathurella cordieri.
Synonym: dollfusi.
Close to horrida but with a multispiral protoconch, a smaller subsutural ramp and thicker spiral ribs.

The species is named after the french geologist and mineralogist Pierre Louis Cordier (1777-1861).

There is often a dark area at the base of the last whorl, crowned by a pale band on a height of two rows of nodules.

Top: transition protoconch - teleoconch.
Bottom: the suture can be adorned with comma-shaped white blotches. Five spiral ribs per whorl of the teleoconch.
