Pyrgiscus jeffreysii
(Forbes & Hanley, 1850)
British Isles to Canarias, to Mediterranean.
Considered as an ectoparasit, in the infralittoral and the circalittoral. But Fretter & al. (1986) discovered some rests of Hydrozoa in the faeces of this animal (quoted by T. Høisaeter in Fauna Norvegica vol.34, p.68): « The hydroids with which they occur, perhaps mainly species of Halecium, Hydrallmannia and Antennularia since their nematocysts occur in the faeces. »

Protoconch of type A: the winding axis, sinister, is perpendicular to that of the teloconch.
The genus is devoid of columellar teeth.

55m deep, Ognina, Catania, E. Sicilia. 5,05mm. Specimens with complete protoconch and fresh colours are difficult to find.
