Pusillina lineolata (Michaud, 1830)
Mediterranean to Black Sea. Grazer and detritus feeder in the infralittoral, down to circa 40m deep. Original taxon: Rissoa lineolata. No synonymy. Above: gerontic specimen from shallow water, southern shore of Salses-Leucate lagoon, Occitania, S. France. 6,6mm. A. Bertrand legit (FR).
« Shell turriculate, glazed, very slightly greenish, drawn regularly by brown longitudinal line, which are flexuous on the last whorl only; these lines cover the interstices; of the eight whorls the last one is scarcely surmounted by ribs which gradually fade as they approach the aperture, but always very marked on the whorls which move away from the latter; peristome simple and sharp; aperture almost round; the transparency of the shell lets one see internally the lines with which it is adorned. » – A. Michaud: “Description de plusieurs espèces de coquilles du genre Rissoa”, Annales de la Société Linnéenne de Lyon, année 1836, p.9-10.

The shape and the strength of the sculpture are variable. The main characteristic of the species is the set of brown flamules that run in between the radial costae. – Same spot. 5mm.
