Pisania striata (Gmelin, 1791)

Azores to Mediterranean.
Predator on small organisms, and scavenger, in the upper rocky infralittoral, among photophile algae or near and in harbours with many organic matter. The animal is black, except the underside of the foot, which is white.

3-5m deep, south-eastern cove of Punta di Spanu, north of Calvi, NW. Corsica. 17-20mm.
« Shell oval, subfusiform, apex acute. Whorls slightly convex, finely striated transversely. The last whorl alone is as long as the rest of the shell. Aperture elongated, quite narrow. Labrum sharp-edged, internally lined with plump-like guttules, which extend into the bottom of the mouth. Dentiform callosities at the top and bottom of the columella.
