Philinissima denticulata (J. Adams, 1800)
N. Norway and probably also in the Barents Sea, south to Mediterranean. Predator on foraminifera, but the species seems also herbivorous. It lives on sedimentary bottoms of the upper infralittoral. Abundant in the north, rare in the south. Original taxon: Bulla denticulata. Previously placed in the genus Philine Ascanius, 1772. In fact, this shell does not belong to a PHILINIDAE but to an AGLAJIDAE.

The shell is smooth with a tiny net of minute radial and spiral ribs, only visible under very high magnification; there is an adapical keel on the shoulder; this keel can bear one or two minute spines at its labial extremity. 7m deep, in shellgrit from cave, La Azohia, west of Cartagena, Murcia, S. Spain. 1mm.
30-44m deep, San Ġiljan, southeastern Region, Malta. 1,3mm. Original pictures provided by A. Nappo (IT).
