Mediterranean.
Grazer and detritus feeder in the shallow infralittoral.
Original taxon: Cingula elegans.
Synonym: nitida Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1884.
Aperture more rounded than in Botryphallus epidauricus.
Cap Ras, Llançà, Girona, Catalunya, NE. Spain. 1,7-1,9mm.
Subadult specimens from Leucate, Occitania, S. France.

« Shell, 2¼mm ht., 1mm w., rather thick but vitreous and translucent. Spire elevated, with an obtuse apex, consisting of six smooth, glossy and lightly convex whorls. Suture shallow. Aperture oval, a little narrowed at its summit, with a continuous peristome. Columella arcuate. Labrum round, somewhat flaring at the base, edged by a narrow, weakly protruding, external bead. Colour hyaline white, revealing through transparency the internal structure of the shell, especially a milky white subsutural band.
