About athletica, here is the description given by its author: « Shell oval with about twenty large tuberculated ribs which project beyond the margin and three or four smaller ones filling up the interstices between each, apex obtuse and never central, colour dull white but young shells are black between the ribs which gives them a beautiful appearance; inside pearly. » – W. Bean: “A supplement of new species”, in C. Thorpe: British Marine Conchology, London 1844, p.264.
