Parthenina terebellum (Philippi, 1844)
English Channel to Mediterranean and Black Sea.
Ectoparasit in the infralittoral.
Original taxon: Chemnitzia terebellum.
Synonyms: denticula, desmoulinsiana, moulinsiana.
 
Spire cyrtoconoid. Whorls rather flat, with a marked subsutural ramp, and rounded suprasuturally. Sculpture: flexuous, flat longitudinal costae, broader than the interspaces, ending at the middle of the base of the last whorl; spiral ridges can occasionally occur, depending of the population. Aperture oval, angular adapically, rounded at the base. Umbilicus variable, from a thin slit to a larger groove. One columellar tooth well visible. – Shell grit, Chioggia lagoon, Veneto, NE. Italy, where it is common and often devoid of spirals. 2mm.
