Parthenina indistincta (Montagu, 1808)
Norway to Canarias, Madeira to Mediterranean.
Ectoparasit in the infralittoral and the circalittoral.
Original taxon: Turbo indistinctus.

« Shell sub-cylindric, glossy, white, with five or six spires nearly flat, but well defined by the separating line; these are finely striated longitudinally, and slightly and indistinctly punctured in the furrows, obsrvable only by the aid of a powerful lens, by which it appears cancellated, but the fine transverse striae are confined to the sulci, and do not cross the ridges. The apex is obtuse. Aperture sub-ovate; pillar lip smooth, and a little spread on the columella. » – G. Montagu: Testacea brittanica vol. II, London 1808, p.129.

No columellar fold.
12m deep, Bozcaada island, Çanakkale,
W. Marmara province, NW. Turkey, North Aegean. 2mm.

Protoconch of type B. Teleoconch cyrtoconoid with sinuous orthocline radial folds, crossed by less elevated spiral striae. There is a marked variability in the strength of these spirals, as it can be seen on the present specimen, which completely lacks of them. In some rare shells, a columellar thickening may appear, the role of which corresponds to that of a tooth or fold. The base shows no sculpture.
The shell of this species is somewhat similar to that of juliae de Folin, but is more elongate, and bears less spiral cords on the body whorl. – 130m deep, Málaga, Andalucia, S. Spain. 2,5mm.
8m deep, Bozcaada. 2,5mm.
