Odostomella bicincta (Tiberi, 1868)
Madeira to Cabo Verde, to Mediterranean. Ectoparasit of some Echinoderms in the infralittoral and circalittoral.
Original taxon: Odostomia tricincta var. “bicincta”.

« This species, hitherto collected in the Mediterranean, and in the neighbourhood of the Canary Islands, is very rare in the Gulf of Naples, where it presents, on the last whorl of the spire, only two reddish bands instead of three. » – N. Tiberi: “Des espèces du genre Odostomia observées, jusqu’ici, dans la Méditerranée”, Journal de Conchyliologie vol. XVI, Paris 1868, p.62-63. Morphologically, the shell of this species is always longer than that of doliolum.

If, according to Tiberi, it is rare in Naples, the species is common along the eastern coast of Sicilia. Ognina. 3,1mm.
