Myosotella myosotis (Draparnaud, 1801)
W. Baltic to British Isles and Mediterranean, W. Africa, Nova Scotia to Georgia, Washington to California, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand. Grazer and detritus feeder in the low supralittoral. The species needs a sheltered habitat, above the high-tide levels, often under driftwood and other wrecked objects. Original taxon: Auricula myosotis. The species produced an impressive quantity of synonyms.

« Shell of a more or less darkened chestnut-brown, somewhat glossy, marked with very thin longitudinal striae. Spire made up of 8 whorls, the last one being on its own as tall as all the others. The four first whorls are rather small, and form a pointed summit. Aperture widened and rounded at the bottom. Columella with three white folds, the two lower of which are well pronounced and extend inside the shell. Sometimes on can see, on the right margin of some specimens, a little tooth or callosity.
