Madeira to Alborán Sea, Ibero-Moroccan Gulf to Canarias.
Predator in the upper infralittoral, under stones, in Posidonia rhizomes, in cracks and crevices of shady rock walls and also on Cystoseira tamariscifolia (Hudson) Papenfuss, 1950. The only existing synonym is maldonadoi by Luque 1984, who gave an excellent description of this beautiful species.
