Mathilda gemmulata Semper, 1865
Mauritania to Mediterranean.
Predator, probably on sea-anemones in the infralittoral, even at shallow depths when in shady environment, down to the circalittoral. Synonyms: canariensis, haasi.

« Testa turriculata, apice typico, anfractibus planis, sutura impressa disjunctis; striis longitudinalibus subremotis et carinis tribus transversis subaequalibus, nodulosis cinctis […] The embryonic shell is perfectly typical, and we can be convinced by referring to the figure we give. Our specimen has five whorls almost planar, separated by a sunken suture. Each whorls has three transverse keels, the upper of which is the thinnest. The interstices are as wide as the keels. These are intersected by a number of longitudinal striations, a little obtuse and regularly spaced. At the intersections, they form blunt nodules on the keels. » – O. Semper: “Du genre Mathilda”, Journal de conchyliologie vol. XIII, Paris 1865, p.340.
