Mangelia tenuicosta (Brugnone, 1868)
Portugal to Mediterranean, to Sénégal.
Predator in the low infralittoral and in the circalittoral.
Original taxon: Pleurotoma attenuata var. tenuicosta.
30-40m deep, Málaga, Andalucia, S. Spain. 6mm.
The costae, quite prominent, are separated by large and deep furrows. The slender shape, the pale background, the fine brown lines, the absence of spiral sculpture, are significant elements. Sometimes a dark spiral band turns around the base of the last whorl, like in M. attenuata, but the colour is less pronounced. – 30m deep, on detritic bottom, Málaga. 6-6,5mm.
