Leucophytia bidentata (Montagu, 1808)
North Sea to Azores, to Mediterranean.
Original taxon: Voluta bidentata. Synonym: micheli.
Colonizes some isolated spots, made of lagunar systems, on salt grounds with freshwater streams. The species needs a sheltered habitat, above the high-tide levels, often on sand under stones, together with Lasaea rubra (Montagu, 1803).
Grazer and detritus feeder.

« Shell conic, pointed, strong, thick, pure white and somewhat glossy. Spires six or seven, with a few distant longitudinal wrinkles which give an undulated appearance to the separating line ; the first volution extending over two-thirds of the shell.
