Ionthoglossa pseudocanarica
(Bouchet, 1985)
Azores to Cabo Verde archipelago, to Mediterranean.
Predator on sessile preys in the circalittoral.
Original taxon: Cosmotriphora pseudocanarica.

« Protoconch brown; teleoconch with white and light brown flammules, base of the last whorl and siphonal canal light brown. Periostracum very thin, translucent. […] The species is immediately identifiable based on its flammules and its protoconch with large meshes. In the Atlantic, Cosmotriphora canarica [today Nototriphora] similarly bears coloured flammules, but its protoconch shows smaller meshes; its teleoconch is more conical in shape, with a more marked and canaliculated suture, and its axial costae are stronger. » – P. Bouchet: “Les Triphoridae de Méditerranée et du proche Atlantique (Mollusca, Gastropoda)”, Lavori SIM vol.21, Milano 1984 (1985), p.40.
