Hexaplex pecchiolianus (d’Ancona, 1871)
Southeastern coast of Turkey. Predator and scavenger in the infralittoral, it is often colonized by the exotic Gastrochaenid Cucurbitula cymbium (Spengler, 1783) – see Delongueville & Scaillet: “Illustration de Gastrochaena cymbium Spengler, 1783 en Méditerrranée orientale sur Hexaplex pecchiolianus (d’Ancona, 1871)”, Novapex/Société 6(4), 2005, p.129.

Original taxon: Murex pecchiolianus.
In nets at 20-40m deep, Yumurtalιk, on the northern coast of Iskenderun Körfezi, SE. Turkey. 67mm.
The species, a Pliocene fossil from central Italy and Sicily, has been found alive at the end of the 20th century.
