Granulina melitensis
Smriglio, Mariottini & Rufini, 1998
Central to eastern Mediterranean. Predator in the low circalittoral and the continental shelf.

The differences with the bathyal G. minusculina (Locard, 1898) are not obvious, the morphological variation ranges overlapping each other; the shell seems to be less inflated in melitensis, with a more narrowed base and thinner labial denticles; the most distinctive feature of melitensis may consist in « the outer part of the upper margin forming a bent profile, tilting towards the dorsum » (Boyer, Renda & Öztürk: “The genus Granulina (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Neogastropoda) from the Turkish coasts with taxonomical notes on some Mediterranean species”, Ege Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences vol.37(1), İzmir 2020, p.74). – Above and below: 80m deep, on detritic bottom, off Ierápetra, SE. Crete. 2,2mm.
Same spot. The outer lip is less thick than on the previous shell but remains strongly calloused posteriorly, where it « bents towards the dorsum ». 2,3mm.
Same spot. 2,4mm.
A specimen with marked terminals.
