Granulina gofasi

Mediterranean. Predator in the bathyal white coral environment of Tyrrhenian Sea. The shell of this species is rather large (around 3mm) and globose. Granulina minusculina (Locard, 1897) and Granulina occulta (Monterosato, 1869) live in the same depths but minusculina has a smaller shell, with a marked labial denticuation, while gofasi bears near-absent to very weak denticles; for its part, occulta is much narrower. Named after the professor S. Gofas, Departamento de Biología Animal de la Facultad de Ciencias, university of Málaga, Spain.
