Gibberula secreta Monterosato, 1889
Madeira to Alborán Sea, to Canarias. Predator in the upper infralittoral. Shell moderately oblong, with a pattern characterized by a double spiral band (that can fade and disappear in dried shells) on the body whorl. Presence of a labial callous. « There is always a chestnut ring marking the edge of the last whorl, near the suture and, sometimes, a second ring closer to the apex, forming a spiral. […] Columella with 5 folds, the two first ones well marked, the second being thicker than the first; the later three decrease in size backwards; there may be a very small sixth fold.

1m deep, in sand, Algeciras, Cádiz, Andalucia, S. Spain. 5mm.
« A character of the shell that seems to be constant in secreta and that facilitates its determination and separation of similar congeners, is the shape of the second columellar fold, the largest, whose section is prismatic, with its flat central border. » – Ibid.
