Diodora gibberula (Lamarck, 1822)
SW. France to Cabo Verde and offshore islands, Madeira to Mediterranean. Predator on sessile preys, in the infralittoral, on rocky substrates. Original taxon: Fissurella gibberula. 30m deep, Punta de la Mona, east of La Herradura, Granada, Andalucia, S. Spain. 9,5-12,2mm.

Shell small, gibbous, whitish with more grey than brown, and with some pattern of radiating rays. Fine sculpture of often sharp radial striae crossed by concentric folds of almost equal strength, giving the shell a cancellate appearance, the striae being somewhat scaly at the intersections with the folds; the peristome is strongly denticulate, with a variable curvature; apical opening oval, lengthened, often calloused inside, less anteriorly placed than in dorsata.

Dead juvenile from Georgioúpoli, east of Chaniá, NW. Crete. 1,2mm. The keyhole is inclined towards the protoconch.
