Crisilla maculata (Monterosato, 1869)
Mediterranean.
Grazer and detritus feeder in the infralittoral.
Original taxon: Cingula maculata.
 
« Fresh shells without periostracum are highly transparent and glossy, with a yellowish hue except for the base, which is whitish. There are three spiral rows of darker spots on the body whorl. There is a dark brown spot on the apex. No sculpture can be seen on the lower whorls. The shells are somewhat solid. There is no labial rib, nor does the aperture show any other peculiarities. Large specimens have about 4.5whorls.
