Chauvetia elongata
Nordsieck & García-Talavera, 1979
Galicia to SW. Morocco, Alborán Sea.
Known from Madeira and Canarias.
Scavenger and predator in infralittoral and upper circalittoral.

Protoconch white. Teleoconch: background of a pale yellow-pink that progressively darkens with each new whorl; spiral cords nodulose, adorned with reddish brown bands that run up to the lip, which is, like the base and the aperture, white. Differences with Ch. lefebvrii: spire higher, labial adapical tooth located lower in the aperture, and stronger, protoconch lacking the spiral microsculpture and bearing strong radial striae after the first half whorl (Gofas, 2010). The species is always confused with Ch. retifera (Brugnone, 1880), which is a fossil from Sicily, smaller than elongata and less slender, with narrower spiral cords and axial ribs.
