The shell of C. pulchresculpta is rather close to the shells of judithae, micalii or minima but is obviously more pupoid than that of judithae, and the colour of the protoconch, brown in pulchresculpta, separates this species from the other three without debate. Regarding the other mediterranean species with a brown protoconch, C. tubercularis, the validity of this taxon remains doubtful: how many species are hidden there?
