Cerithidium submamillatum

Black Sea, Mediterranean and adjacent.
From shallow subtidal gardens to deep circalittoral. Grazer.
Original taxon: Cerithium submamillatum.
Synonym: Turitella pusilla.
Above and below: 150m deep, in grit, Qammieh Bay, Il-Mellieħa, NW. Malta. 2,5-3mm.
Other synonyms: pulchella Pallary.
Sculpture more or less prominent.
4-6m deep, on detritic sand, at base of granitic boulders, Cala d’Alivu, Isola Rossa, NW. Corsica. 4mm.
The species differs from the foreign Cerithidium diplax (Watson, 1886) by its more solid shell, its 4 rows of major spiral ridges on the penultimate whorl when diplax bears usually only 2, and by the broader interspaces on the last whorl.
