The other extant species in the genus:
Bolinus cornutus (Linnaeus, 1758)
A “brandaris” from Tanger area.
In fact, this is Bolinus cornutus (Linnaeus, 1758), which differs from brandaris by a flatter spire, longer and more curved spines, a generally larger size and a longer tail. Banded patterns are not rare in this species. B. cornutus was known to live along the west african coast, from Mauritania to Angola. So far in the north, it would be a range extension.

Variant “tumulosus” Sowerby II, 1841. 98,5mm.
A “tumulosus” from Lanzarote, Canarias, 40m deep. 107mm.
A dark cornutus from Gorée island, Dakar, Sénégal. 120mm.
A banded cornutus from the same spot. 133mm.
