Internal shell of a Berthellina, possibly edwardsii (Vayssière, 1896) collected at 20m deep, on detritic sand at the limit of the Posidonia field, in the SE. of the small venetian fortress, Methóni, Messinia, SW. Peloponnese, SW. Greece. 3mm.
The species edwardsii, which is dedicated to the french zoologist Henri Milne-Edwards, lives in eastern Atlantic, from Angola to SW. France, Azores and lusitanian seamounts, and into the Mediterranean Sea, from shallow water to low infralittoral, on rocky bottoms. Predator on sessile preys. – Above: a broken specimen from 12m deep, on sand, Vignola bay, Marina di Davia, Corbara, NW. Corsica. 3,8mm.
