Iceland, Norway, Barents Sea, to Morocco, Mediterranean, including the NW. Black Sea. Half-buried in mud, sand, silt or gravel from subtidal grounds down to the shelf. Filter and detritus feeder. Original taxon: Strombus pespelecani.
