« This species, which we have dredged on the coralligenous bottoms of the gulf of Oran, is somewhat similar to C. cancellata (le rac d’Adanson) from Sénégal and Antilles. But we can easily differentiate the two species by the following characteristics: C. Aliceae has a less sharp spire, a bigger summit, and granulations more numerous, larger, more protuberant and more interspaced. In addition, the whorls in C. cancellata are bordered by a white bead that is absent in our species. Finally the colour of the two shells is rather different : the Aliceae is of a beautiful pale golden honey, while the cancellata is of a nice pink. I dedicate this lovely species to my niece, Alice Pallary. » – P. Pallary: “Coquilles marines du littoral du départment d’Oran”, Journal de Conchyliologie vol. XLVIII, Paris 1900.
