Alvania zylensis Gofas & Warén, 1982
Gorringe & Ampère seamounts to central Mediterranean. Detritus feeder in the circalittoral and on the continental shelf. The species can be distinguished by the typical sculpture of the protoconch, in a zig-zag spiral pattern; sculpture of the teleoconch made up of orthocline radial folds that disappear in the anterior half of the last whorl, crossed by numerous weak spiral cords, « slightly thicker than interspaces » (WoRMS). « Columella detached leaving an indistinct umbilical chink. » An other characteristic is the slightly prominent spiral cord, just above the suture. – Named after Zylis, the ancient toponym for Asilah, the type-locality on the northwestern coast of Morocco.
